RARE ANTIQUE VERY EARLY 1856 DATED CDV PHOTO PARIS FRANCE STUDIO ID'd YOUNG MAN

RARE ANTIQUE 1856 EARLY CDV PHOTO. This original CDV is dated to 1856 on the back. That is only 2 years after the development of the photo process patent. The photo was taken in a Paris studio on Rue di Rivoli showing a young man identified on the reverse. I simply do not see many early examples this early coming to the secondary market! See pics for details. The carte de visite French: visiting. Card abbreviated CdV, was a type of small photograph which was patented in Paris by photographer Andre Adolphe Eugene Disderi in 1854.

RARE EARLY HEATH CERAMICS SEA & SAND COMBED STUDIO VASE C. I have seen only one other Heath Sea & Sand studio vase in my 30 years of avid collecting. T he museum-quality v ase is o f impressive size and technique, featuring a hand-combed semi-gloss and heavily speckled Sand exterior with a rich high-gloss Sea interior. The hand-combed surface and basket f orm is reminiscent of California N ative American basketry, possibl y produced for exhibition purposes. T his piece is n ot commercial Heath Ceramics dinnerware, but is a studio vase made for exhibition. In fact, this is not a commercial f orm meant for production. This is the only example of this form a nd glaze combination I have ever encountered. The vase measures 6. 5 h igh with a 7. 5 diameter at the shoulder. The vessel is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. It is signed with the early Heath & Teacup mark. The vase exhibits an incredible amount of handwork including the deeply hand- combed exterio r. S tudio vases by Heath Ceramics are extremely rare and almost never appear on the market as most of them are already in private and museum collections. This unique and important Heath Pottery vase will find favor with collectors of Studio masters such as Otto and Gertrud Natzler, Marguerite Wildenhain, Vivika and Otto Heino, Bea Wood, Glen Lukens, Antonio Prieto and Peter Voulkos. D ROSE MOD, Inc. RARE Early Vintage 1950’s George Nakashima Studio Pair Captains Chairs Walnut. Listed for sale is an original pair of George Nakashima captain’s chairs, never refinished and in gorgeous original condition. Uniquely, the two chairs vary dimensionally from more recent examples produced at the Nakashima Studio. Per the last two photos in this listing, the chairs were both brought to Mira Nakashima for authentication and assessment. Due to the informal nature of production in the 1950’s, Mira believes these to be early examples prior to George deciding on a single specific dimension. She also believes that they very well may have been special ordered for a couple with one taller and one shorter individual. As a result, the backrest crests vary from one another. Mira will be providing a written letter, which will be made available to you upon purchasing the chairs. Furthermore, I have an order card (not specifically mentioning these chairs, as it was a later order card) from the Nakashima Studio from the same family, as this came from an estate with many Nakashima pieces.
