Used for storing oysters, pickles, tobacco, butter, etc. Likely New England origin. Iron-rich, lightly speckled glaze. Coiled firing lines visible. No hairlines or craquelure. Some tiny rim frits. Rich, dark molasses drip glaze (all visible in the images). A FINE EARLY AMERICAN REDWARE GLAZED JAR.

TERRIFIC ANTIQUE REDWARE URN / VASE. About 10 1/2″ high x 6″ diameter. Rare redware urn / vase with manganese splotch glaze. Probably Maine or New Hampshire origin. Cylindrical form with flared rim. Lightly incised ring decorations around the shoulder. Clay coil lines plainly visible. 4 hairline, hard to see, but it’s there near the rim. Offering this rare piece of antique redware. Measures 8.5″ T x 8″ x 7.5″ W (slightly out of round) x 5.25″ base. This piece has a beautiful surface with a dry patinated wear and spots of glaze througout as seen “splashes” of it. In good overall condition with some wear around the rim but no major cracks or damage noticed. Bottom has a rare signed piece J. Carey attributed to Shippensburg, PA. Excellent piece of redware for your homes collection. Expect minor abrasions and wear consistent with age and use.

RARE ANTIQUE EARLY 1800s CHILDS CRADLE ROCKINGHAM YELLOW WARE REDWARE
The cradle was molded in two pieces and the halves pressed together, then the rockers added prior to firing. The outside of the cradle is attractively formed with Rockingham glaze decorating the top and sides. Measuring 4 ½” long by 3 ¼” in height this cradle is nicely molded and decorated. When found, these cradles usually have damage from having been played with by children. This is in near mint condition with only minor glaze loss on the top of the rockers with no other damage or repairs. Very few of these cradles have survived in any condition and are highly collectable.

RARE EARLY 19TH CENTURY AME RI CAN FOLK ART, NEW ENGLAND PRIMITIVE ANTIQUE. REDWARE WHEEL THROWN CERAMIC VESSEL. Featuring ROLLED TOP RIM, SOFT, INCISED SIDEWALL INSCRIBED. LINES & with WARM, VARIEGATED, SPECKLED BURNT SIENNA GLAZED. INTERIOR & WIRE CUT BASEPLATE in STAIN. SEMI- REFLECTIVE GLAZED FINISH. There’s a very small & one moderately sized flea-bite on the upper rolled edge of the redware jar. No attempt has been made to professionally remedy. Recently discovered in an early southern New Hampshire farmhouse along with two other early 19th century primitive redware ceramic vessels. All three early Ame ri can artifacts were only gently washed with tepid water & gently dried to remove years of built up silt & dust. They otherwise remain exactly as they were found when they were removed from the home, without repairs or other interventions. They haven’t been’worked on. Early 19th century, Ame ri can folk art, New England primitive antique wheel thrown & hand decorated redware ceramic pots, pitchers & other early Ame ri can ceramic vessels. 5 ¾ ” Height x 5″ top Width x 4 base Width. Nice dark brown color, thick and heavy, glazed inside, unglazed outside. Hand thrown with very fine proportions. A majestic early Americana piece. Circa 18th century, found in Massachusetts.
