Vintage/Antique French Game Meat Pie Raised Mould Mold – Rare Shape – Top & Bottom Lids – Kitchenalia Cookery This is an old French game pie raised mould in a rare, very hard to find flared shape. This is made of tinned metal and is in four pieces. Two side pieces that clip together with sliding clips and a smaller top lid and larger bottom lid. These make truly elegant game pies, made for deer, lamb, rabbit, partridge, and other game. Please see the last photo of an example of the pies that can be made. Dating to around 1840, this is a finely detailed early corn mold. The mold is very crisply formed and highly decorative. There were several different varieties of corn molds produced, and this is the most decorative and desirable. This mold is large, measuring 7″ long by 6 ¼” wide and 3 ¾ in height. This has had a long life and shows it with wear around the rim and foot. Lisa McAllister includes this mold in her book “Collector’s Guide to Yellow Ware Book 1″ on page 92.

Could be 19th century- i could not find a date.. Wood, brass, steel/iron and cork. One of the ribs/arms/fingers/slidy thingers sits a little proud but it seems all original- see pics. Stored for 40+ years, i did a very superificial wipe down of this with a rag and touch of ballistol. Holler with any questions.

The large style is a very rare one dating back to the 1700’s with a Puritan or Shaker and Colonial design. If you love rare early lighting antiques this one is a show stopper and we’ve only seen a similar one in history books and a few museums over the years which is where we also hope this one ends up.
