Rare Antique Chelsea Flash Pistol Camera Light. Before Fash Bulbs were invented. The flash pistol enabled a photographer to get extra light for photographs in early photography. The round bowl would hold flash powder which would be ignited when the trigger was pulled. The lid remains open, but is a friction fit and new owner will need to adjust to stay down. This is a very rare piece and would be a great addition to a Camera collectors’ collection. The trigger action is fully functioning. Please see pictures they are part of the description. Lot of four matching Victorian gas light fixtures with an oxidized copper, copper flash, or japanned finish. Each measures approximately 20 3/4 from mounting bracket to bottom of gas valve key. 8 3/4 from back of hook on tubular arm to front of gas valve. Canopy diameter is 4. Utilitarian canopy and tubular arm with an ornate Victorian gas valve. Ready to be serviced or converted to electric fixtures. Offered as found and uncleaned. Some paint slop and finish oxidation. Some canopy set screws appear to have been replaced. Additional pictures and measurements available upon request. All sales are final.
