Rare 1930s Kienzle Heinrich Moller Art Deco Bauhaus Table Mantel Clock German
A rare and striking Kienzle table or mantel clock, designed by Heinrich Möller and produced in Germany circa 1935-36. The clock has the elegant geometric styling associated with both the Art Deco and Bauhaus movements, with a large circular brass surround, raised Arabic numerals, distinctive ring-form hour hand, long tapered minute hand, convex glass and stepped black plinth. A particularly impressive decorative clock with real presence. Approximate dimensions: Height: 25 cm Width: 23 cm MOVEMENT AND WORKING CONDITION The clock would originally have been fitted with a Kienzle eight-day mechanical movement. At some point in its life, this was replaced with a later vintage Kienzle 1.5V electromechanical movement powered by a D battery. The replacement mechanism is itself Kienzle-branded and vintage, rather than a modern quartz conversion. It has been tested with a fresh 1.5V D battery but does not continue running. When the clock is gently tilted or moved, the balance mechanism ticks for approximately three seconds before stopping. No further investigation or repair has been attempted. COSMETIC CONDITION The clock displays extremely well but naturally shows age-related patina, tarnishing, marks and wear. The number 3 appears to been glued back on at some point. Although the original movement is no longer present, the clock remains an authentic and increasingly difficult-to-find example of Heinrich Möller’s celebrated work for Kienzle. Early Rare Antique Roswell Kimberly Mantle Clock Ansonia Serviced & Running. Here is a nice condition, rare to find, early American 30 hour mantle clock that was made by Roswell Kimberly, at Ansonia, Conn. USA in the 1840’s. We wound it up for a test run and find that It is running and gonging properly. This is a highly collectible clock right from our collection. Note: Roswell Kimberly is mentioned as one of the earlist clockmakers at Ansonia, CT. Making clocks when Anson Phelps Ansonia Clock Co. Was still producing brass and copper while building his industrial park complex, which he named Ansonia in1844. The case is very nice with the original label still inside. There is some neat looking age/stress cracking on the left side of the case and a small amount of veneer repair and restoration work, but overall the case, as well as the painted dial, is much nicer than you usually find on a 180 year old clock. It also comes with the original club style hands, and what looks to be the original pendulum. The case measurements at the longest points are 20 ¾” high x 11″ wide x 4 deep. This clock comes complete with the pendulum and a key. This helps ensure that the new owner will have a satisfying experience. Be very sure to save all packaging material if there is a problem. All sales are final, so please be sure that you will be happy by reviewing the pictures and descriptions that we provide. We honestly want you to be happy. It is nearly impossible to find one in “mint” condition. If a clock has damage from misuse, it will be noted. Once in awhile we do offer other types of antiques and collectibles for sale, but mainly clocks are what we’re about. We are a very small, family run enterprise.. Ben handles all repairs in house. He has been restoring clocks since 1976, and a member of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors since 1978. Jen and Lana handle all of the pictures, listings, marketing and design, as well as some of the restoration work. We definitely don’t want any bad feedbacks, so we try to describe everything exactly as it is and if we do something wrong, we will make it right. We do not use our computers on Sunday, the Lord’s day, but will answer any emails Monday through Saturday and although we do not expect any problems, we will do whatever we can to resolve any issues. This is a superb and rare to find Antique Danish. The heavy Silver case and face are in good condition with just a little age-related wear, but no dings or dents. The base could do with tightening a little to the clock as there’s a very small amount of movement, but access isn’t possible, however it is still stable. The clock movement is in working order and winds up as it should from the crown to the top. Pulling the crown up allows the hands to be moved manually to set the correct time. There is an inscription to the front with the name “Joyette” to the top and the date “21 April 1919″ to the bottom. To the top and reverse of the case are the Danish hallmarks for 1919 as well as the makers mark and name of A. The case measures approximately 15cm high and 9.5cm by 6cm at the base.
