Antique and very scarce set of 4 French large wide bowls (9 6/8 or 25cm diameter appx)…. They display very well and are attractive and decorative…. And will look wonderful when combined with other Faience pottery/ceramics. We believe that these are early and although they are signed on the backs with the famous Geo Rouard mark, they also have a seperate but included mark of “OL” which could stand for “Limoges”, however after studying the pattern and also Rouards collaboration with other companies and designers, there is a chance that these are in fact Venetian… And the pattern is called “Alcora”. French classical pictorial in the Art Nouveau style with 2 angels holding a duck and flower, classical statue figure, jugs steaming with oil or incense, Bacchus mask faces, acanthus leaves and scrolls and what appears to be stained glass with punting pole behind, with a hint of the Art Nouveau styling….. All in an “off white” porcelain or could be “Faience” as it is glazed over the decoration. I have attached some, just for your reference and interest. Lots of pics all will enlarge and any questions then please ask and I can provide further pics and measurements if needed. Considering their age, and they are antiques, they are in good condition and I have doubled checked them over. Please note: that 2 of the bowls top facing rims have the merest tiny chips see photo of this and also the reverse facing rims do have nibbles and extremely tiny chips. They have pin pricks and tiny inclusions in the glaze and some indentations in the manufacture under glaze. They all have glaze crazing which is to be expected, however luckily enough this has not discoloured and so they remain a good overall colour. Courier tracked signed and strong box as over 2kg.

These beautiful bowls are exquisite examples of the roaring 20’s pieces made from the same factory at the same date. Homer Laughlin is the parent company of FIESTAWARE and these bowls are indicative of why Fiestaware has become so popular today: QUALITY WORKMANSHIP. Condition: The bowls have utensil marks and age-related ware on the gold trim but remarkably they are free of chips, cracks or crazing (I did note that there is discoloration within one bowl that appears to be from a manufacturing issue). Exceptionally Rare Pre Coalport John Rose Colebrookdale Porcelain Soup Bowls. Circa 1805 – 1810. Rare John Rose & Co Colebrookdale Porcelain Pre Coalport Circa 1805 – 1820 Soup Bowls. Likely a bespoke commission for an important family, given the incorporation of a monogram. All hand painted and gilded, Good display condition, considering the bowls are approaching 200 years old. Each has a chip to the outer rim (photographed), and minor utensil marks to the surface of the bowls. This is reflected in the price.
