Rare Antique Brass Lens Voigtländer Universal-Aplanat & GOERZ Berlin 1359 Early
This is a rare and unusual early brass lens, combining elements from two historically significant German manufacturers. Voigtländer & Sohn – Engraved “Universal-Aplanat”, a Rapid Rectilinear design, late 19th to early 20th century. GOERZ Berlin – Engraving on the other side reads “1359 E P”, marking it as an early GOERZ lens. Lens body: brass with some surface scratches consistent with age. Glass appears clear with no major chips or cracks (note any internal haze or scratches if present). Focus and aperture mechanisms intact (untested). Very early serial numbers from both manufacturers, making this a unique collectible for historical lens enthusiasts. Both Voigtländer and GOERZ were leaders in early optical design. Lenses from this era are rare and prized by collectors for their craftsmanship and history. Ideal for display, historical collections, or restoration projects. Minor cosmetic wear expected for a lens of this age.
