Metal trim and braces on all corners and around the top 3. Very rare little item 5. Wood is all hand planed, you can see some of the plane marks 5. Little brass disc under all the tiny nails 6. Top is made out of 5 small pieces to create the dome 7. Small stopper in the back to prevent the top from falling back 8. Plane and chisel marks on all side 9. Hinges are good, well attached and work well 10. Nice little feet 11. I think this was made for a lady, for jewlery. 5 in across front, 4 in. Scroll down for larger photos. Master gold and silversmith, Mr. Burt both learned the trade from his equally famous father John, and his siblings, and was master to many other notable makers. This incredibly strong looking spoon, is just that-no skimping on silver content here, and the sweet shell just above the drop makes it his very own brand of spoon. A special spoon approaching 300 years old has the longevity to tell a story, and this one’s written all over it in character!
