A Rare Pewter-Mounted Hand-Blown Glass’Double Gourd’ Seltzogene/Soda Siphon, Retailed by Boots Cash Chemists, Late 19th/Early 20th Century. The pewter mechanism stamped’Boots/Cash Chemists’, the’gourds’ entirely clad in protective wire mesh, on heavy circular foot, the interior with original glass siphon tube and white guiding sleeve. Weight: 7.00 kg. Condition: Overall, in excellent used condition and fully intact, with no visible damages. Tarnish and minor marks and wear to the pewter. The wire mesh now with a light coating of rust. I haven’t attempted to clean this, but it does scratch off with my nail, so could possibly be removed through thorough cleaning using the appropriate substances.

A charming Georgian Porter’s chair constructed in solid oak, dating to the first quarter of the 19th century. With substantial locking cupboard backrest over a single seat. The chair is of good proportions and originally made to allow a servant to sit whilst waiting to serve. There is a cupboard forming the backrest which has an iron lock and key. This would have been used to store valuable items. This could signify that the chair was for a head butler or Porter who had more responsibility, and also held the key. Behind the seat is a useful single shelf, which held items that could be accessed by any staff member. The chair is particularly unusual and most likely unique. It is certainly unlike any other chair we have found through our research. Made from solid oak and utilising pegged joints and hand forged iron nails. The thick timber carcass featuring little embellishment, except for chamfered front legs. The simple but supportive armrests suggest that the user did indeed have to sit for longer periods, and was offered some level of comfort by these. The design is reminiscent of a traditional English squat bacon back settle. To the cupboard interior is a single removable shelf. The lock mechanism is still fully operational, and quite unusual in that it appears to have been originally installed upside down. Found in good warm honest colour and with nice patina. Height – 141.1cm. Widest point – 67.4cm. Seat height – 44.3cm. Seat depth – 36.8cm. Backrest height – 93cm. Seat width – 44.5cm. Structurally sound and ready to use. Evidence of historic non active woodworm. Historic wear to the bottom of the legs. One leg is ever so slightly short and means the chair sits slightly unevenly. This could easily be rectified with a small spacer under the back leg. We have chosen to leave the chair as found to give the end user this choice. Historic repairs to the base of the front legs. Some historic wear and tear throughout. Lock and hinges fully operational. Collection in person available by appointment only from our showroom. FLEETING FOX ANTIQUES LTD.

Rare Vintage Weller Zona Art Pottery, Child’s ABC Cereal Bowl Dish “Squirrels”. Made In Fultonham Or Zanesville, Ohio, 1920 To 1930’s We Are Not Experts! Previously Owned In Excellent Antique Condition, A Couple Of The ABC Letters Have Lost A Small Amount Of Color. There Is One Small Line Inside Of The Bowl About 1/2 Long, Can’t Tell If It Is A Crack Or Just Part Of Pottery Production, But Does Not Show On Any Other Part Of The Bowl (See Last Picture For Details). These Small Things Do Not Detract From The Beauty Of This Piece! No Chips Or Crazing, Bottom Of Bowl Is In Pristine Condition! This Bowl Is A Gorgeous Ivory Colored Background With A Pair Of Incised & Hand Painted Squirrels Sitting On A Branch Holding Some Type Of Nuts, The Incised Alphabet Letters Are Colored Light Brown. Bowl Diameter Is 7-1/2″ And It Stands 1-3/4″ Tall. Rim Is Designed To Keep Food In The Bowl. Bowl Is Very Heavy And Weighs 1 Pound 14 Ounces.
