Wooden traditional Distaff, a spinning old tool for manual spinning thread of wool, flax, hemp & other natural textile fiber. It was used in combination with the spindle and was also called distaff or “rock” in English and “Rocca” in Greek and Balkan languages. It is made of wood and have a very nice hand made carved decoration. Very good condition, more than 150 years old! Length – 100 cm. The item comes direct to you. Check out my other items. SCARCE EARLY 20TH CENTURY NAVAJO NATIVE AME RI CAN. ANTIQUE SMALL SQUARE, 18″ x 18″ HAND WOVEN WOOL. RUG, with’WHIRLING LOGS’ SACRED NAVAJO. TRIBAL SYMBOL CENTRAL MOTIF, in. ORANGE -RED, SEPIA BROWN, CREAMY WHITE. & PALE GREEN VEGETABLE DYE COLORS. Featuring TIED, TASSLE WOOL FIBER CORNERS. Of which TWO TASSELS are STILL. Small, barely noticeable hole or break in wool fibers in one corner, as well as a few small, minor stains. No repairs made to the break & the wool mat hasn’t been hand washed or cleaned. Early 20th century Navajo Native Ame ri can hand woven, vegetable dyed fiber wool rugs, with sacred tribal hieroglyphic symbols. 18 ½” Height x 18″ Width. Offered for your review and consideration is this estate fresh and 100% untouched and unadulterated, small, diminutive 18″ x 18″ square, vegetable dyed, 100% wool, hand woven Navajo antique rug, tapestry or horse saddle mat. This magnificent early 20th century antique rug was produced by Navajo Native Ame ri can indigenous tribal hands, most likely in the vast four corner region of what’s now Arizona, New Mexico, Utah and Colorado. The small mat is comprised of rich sepia brown colors of its jagged interior border, resembling the diagonal configurations also found in antique Navajo’eye dazzler’ hand woven, wool rugs produced in the same period as this magnificent, diminutive gem and superb example of early 20th century period Navajo wool rug weaving. The sepia brown jagged edges are interwoven with creamy white. The center of the rug features an orange red square, upon which is woven the Navajo sacred tribal symbol of the’Whirling Logs’ realized in deep mint green and creamy white. The symbol is an ancient, indigenous, Native Ame ri can Navajo tribal one and not a later, co-opted, European fascist one. From gifted Navajo tribal hands long ago. Good to Very Good overall antique condition. Two corner wool tassels have broken away and are now absent. Early 20th century Ame ri can antique primitive handmade, hand woven figurative wool hooked rugs. 37 ½” Width x 27″ Height. Offered for your review and consideration is this utterly fantastic, simply amazing and in incredibly well-preserved overall, near originally constituted antique condition, late 19th to early 20th century Ame ri can folk art antique colored wool, handmade hooked rug, featuring a bucolic, near dream-like New England landscape, seemingly bursting with color and complete with a northern New England covered wooden bridge, white clapboard church, stone walls, gnarled old trees, flowers and several figures, as well as a dog. The period rug has no foul smells and doesn’t suffer loss to any of its edges, its black framed borders or even more importantly, in the pictorial field. The area above the wood covered bridge consists of the foliage of trees swirling around like tumultuous wind currents or resembling the rings of receding tidal pools. The maker of the hooked rug seemed particularly focused on enthusiastically portraying the natural bounty, overwhelming beauty and wealth of New England. A veritable Ame ri can antique folk art masterwork. Lush, bright and with gorgeous, brilliant, vivid colors, this wonderful textile art treasure appears to have been rolled up and protected for the more than 100-130 years since it was initially realized. It is nearly, if not, as it was originally constituted. It is a rare feat indeed for a work of textile art to not have the kind of wear we’re accustomed to seeing, when a rug such as this is placed on the floor and walked upon. The presence of dogs, heeled shoes, dirt, sand, wine and food all would have contributed to the hooked rug’s certain depreciation and ultimate demise over time. This was not the case with this incredible work of masterful rug making. It appears never to have been used as a rug or was placed on the floor of a home without pets or children, and away from direct sunlight, since it has virtually no wear or color depreciation at all to speak of. As clean as anyone could ever expect an antique hooked rug to still be. An Ame ri can folk art masterwork in nearly immaculate, pristine condition. It won’t disappoint. It is a large size measuring approximately 50.25 x 26.5 inches. It is a very folky geometric pattern made in the best desirable colors. It is thick and high-quality. For a textile of its age, it is in very good condition, but it does show some signs of age and loss, including some separation at the edges where its been finished and a few small bits on the front side. It is free from significant flaw, and it comes to you ready for display from a smoke free home. This is a one of a kind work of art. ANTIQUE EARLY BASEBALL GAME PHOTOGRAPH “FOUL BALL”. THIS IS REALLY A GREAT ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAPH. IT IS THE PERFECT PICTURE FROM THE EARLY ERA OF BASEBALL. MEASURING 8 X 10 INCHES IT IS A GREAT VIEW OF A BASEBALL GAME WITH THE CAMERA LOOKING DOWN THE THIRD BASE LINE. THE PERFECT POSITION FOR THE EXACT PLAY THAT HE CAUGHT WITH THE ONE SHOT. THE RIGHT HANDED BATTER WAS OUT IN FRONT OF THE PITCH AND SEEMS TO HAVE RIPPED IT FOUL. HE AND THE CATCHER AND THE PITCHER AND THE SHORT AND THIRD BASEMEN AS WELL AS THE OUTFIELDER WATCH AS THE RIGHT FIELDER HEADS OVER TO GET THE BALL. EVEN THE GUYS ON THE BENCH WATCH IT FLY FOUL. JUST A GREAT CAPTURE BY THE PHOTOGRAPHER. THE PHOTO ITSELF IS CRISP AND CLEAR. THERE IS A GOOD AMOUNT OF SPOTTING IN THE SKY ABOVE THE TREES BUT NOTHING THAT DETRACTS FROM THE IMAGE NOR THE PRESENTATION. MATTED AND FRAMED THIS WOULD BE A GREAT PHOTOGRAPH TO DISPLAY. Rare early 1800s wool & glass bead tapestry / needlepoint art two lovers

For interesting glass , pottery , oil paintings , lamps , dolls and more…. This one is something i really hate to part with……. I have owned this tapestry for about 30 years……. But you simply cannot keep everything…….. The tapestry is all hand woven…… It is amazing and museum quality… 2 lovers in an embrace….. Parts of the entire painting have has glass beads woven into the tapestry tohighlight certain parts of the clothing…… In her hair and in his garment sleeve…. Also the ladys bracelets….. There is a mountain and trees in the background……. The art itself measures 17 1/2 inches across…… I do not know how much of the tapestry might be hidden under the frame….. Perhaps a bit more…. I have never taken it apart…… The colors are bright and stunning….. This was never exposed to much sunlight….. The frame itself is also stunning and early , but i do not know if it dates as old as the tapestry or not…… I think it pre civil war now……….. If someone can help me be more accurate…. I would surely be grateful to add their information to my description here…… I do not know why the numbers (71) appear stuck on the frame….. But i have never removed them…… The grapes are in relief in all four corners….. The grapes and vines are highlighted in gold gilding……… There is some gesso loss as the pictures show…… Again , it never bothered me to leave it as i found it so many years ago……. There is an old cloth back on the frame….. It sticks out past the wood…. Making the entire painting / tapestry some… 2 3/4 inches thick……. The wood measures 24 inches square…… Original finish on all of the wood…… I have always thought this was museum quality…… And i think it is flemish made…… It is a stunning piece of textile art……. I should mention that there is a picture of a spot in the blue sky…… To the left of the mans head… That has separated some……. There is at least one picture showing it…… I think it is insignificant , but i mention it for accuracy……. I hope someone will like this classic piece of art as much as i do….. Thank you for taking the time to search out this listing…….. My family appreciates how hard it is becoming to find anything on this site. Nancy or jon have taken a picture of the most interesting parts on each item….. My mom is often seen in the gallery photos showing the size of the item we have listed…… Usually the post office and sometimes ups……..
