D ROSE MOD, Inc. RARE Early Vintage 1950’s George Nakashima Studio Pair Captains Chairs Walnut. Listed for sale is an original pair of George Nakashima captain’s chairs, never refinished and in gorgeous original condition. Uniquely, the two chairs vary dimensionally from more recent examples produced at the Nakashima Studio. Per the last two photos in this listing, the chairs were both brought to Mira Nakashima for authentication and assessment. Due to the informal nature of production in the 1950’s, Mira believes these to be early examples prior to George deciding on a single specific dimension. She also believes that they very well may have been special ordered for a couple with one taller and one shorter individual. As a result, the backrest crests vary from one another. Mira will be providing a written letter, which will be made available to you upon purchasing the chairs. Furthermore, I have an order card (not specifically mentioning these chairs, as it was a later order card) from the Nakashima Studio from the same family, as this came from an estate with many Nakashima pieces.
