For sale is this estate fresh and new to the marketplace, very well preserved, early to mid 19th century American antique, New England primitive, small flame mahogany wooden trinket or jewelry box, with its original brass hardware. This wonderful little box measures 5 in width x 2? ” in height x 3 ¼” in depth and is literally undamaged, with no loose hinges, dings, dents, edge flea bites, stains or other unsightly, depreciating damage. It features a very nice, decorative brass front lid swing hook, as well as original cut brass plate hinges. Holding the box together are cut nail fasteners, a hallmark and characteristic of early American wood box construction. The flame mahogany is absolutely beautiful, with decidedly honey, amber color and veins of embedded chestnut. The flame mahogany has its characteristic and usual three-dimensional quality, with areas of wispy flames of color that give this mahogany tropical wood its name. The corners of the box are still undamaged and intact and the box opens and closes freely. A great early to mid 19th century American primitive, New England antique small wooden trinket box. SUPERB RARE EARLY 19th CENTURY CYLINDRICAL ESTATE BUREAU WITH HIDDEN PISTOL DRAWERS AND HAS BEEN CONSTRUCTED FROM HAREWOOD & MAHOGANY AND IT MUST BE SAID IS A SUPER PIECE OF FURNITURE. This beautiful bureau has a host of varying size drawers including two pistol drawers and has a wonderful rich patina and colour and measures, 136 cm in height, by 113 cm in length and 58 cm deep and has some lovely detailing, it looks superb and will add character to any room in your home, no matter what the style. It shows only age related wear / character and some very tiny areas of loss to its veneer but should be classed as normal age related use for a piece of its age and type and is minimal and is ready for its new owner to enjoy. All in all a fine piece of furniture made in a time when quality mattered with the cylindrical top opening and closing smoothly, the original Georgian key and beautifully detailed portrait profiled escutcheon just being a few of this pieces wonderful details and a sign of real quality. The box is inlaid with boxwood to all outer edges. Central cartouche is solid. Along we think is the same for the keyhole. The keyhole escutcheon is not marked silver but we. It to be silver to match the handle. Is for c1838 attributed to Thomas Dicks It could be Thomas Daniell we are not 100% sure as the marks are not that clear.
