Unusual green glass small jug of unknown origin and date. It appears to be early hand blown and very well made. Research suggests it dates to pre 1800 and maybe continental. It’s a very nice piece with its textured finish and lovely colouration. Non smoking house and stored in dark and dry conditions. I have collected many items over the years and it is now time to let some go as well as finally have room in an overflowing loft. So please study them carefully. If you are are uncertain of anything please contact me and ask. I have looked up the costs of all the items and tried to keep the starting price fair in order to allow market forces to dictate. Extremely Rare Large-Scale Antique Tinplate. Pendent from a silk hanging loop, a wonderfully crafted decorative model. The elegant, shaped balloon has been constructed from six panels hand painted alternating green, red and gold. From this is suspended a wonderful circular gondola via a. Complex web of silk cords. The detail is marvellous. The edges of the gondola have been carefully rolled to. Avoid sharp edges and a fine mesh has been applied to the outside to simulate basket-weave. Inside are three charmingly two-dimensional figures carefully cut out of. With streaming scarves suggestive of a windy day. Their applied pointing and gesticulating arms, well convey. The excitement of the sightseeing passengers. Condition is good although the paint is certainly what one would call. This is often the case with tinplate of this age. There is enough original detail to repaint if desired. Clearly all handmade and possibly unique. A wonderful, rare survival and the sort of quirky item often sought by interior designers. Hard to find one like this in this country, every turns, screws, locks as it should, comes as shown in photos so please study, made from very high quality pre war cast steel, in great condition for its age, I haven’t tried to clean it, it is as I found it, will need a gentle clean with fine wire wool and metal cleaner, very rare and very sought after. For sale in this lot is a wonderful example of fully animated comical scene, working cast metal folk art weathervane whirligig dating circa 1920s. Both wind propellers work smoothly, and the main propeller once rotated begins the animated scene of the man on the main base hitting the donkey which kicks back his rear legs and in addition the women at the front of the donkey bents forward to pat his head. A truly wonderful kept item that has some great detail and craftsmanship as shown in the photos provided. The item has been mounted onto a thick hard wood board and waxed to give it a very decorative and artistic look. This is a complete original item and would make a wonderful addition to any serious collectors collection or add a great decorative look to any cool interior space. Size: L 30 x H 25 x D 10.
