Antique Skookum Bully Good Squaw Papoose Doll Early Rare Left Glancing Looking
Posted by admin On September 29, 2020
Antique Bully Good Native American Indian Squaw Papoose Composition Doll. VERY RARE Left Glancing Left Looking. Most Skookum dolls were made so they look to the right. Some look to the left but are quite rare and hard to find. Label on bottom of foot – The key to dating this doll is the paper label on the bottom of the suede covered pine wooden foot. The label displays a fylfot or twirling log, a Native American good luck symbol, today commonly referred to as a swastika. The company used this label during the 1920s. Suede Moccasins – An additional method of determining the production date of the dolls is by studying the footwear. The earliest dolls from around 1913 had mocasins made of leather. By 1918, the mocassins were simulated with suede applied to wood, and painted designs. By 1924, they were molded of composition material. This doll was made between 1918 and 1924. Smoke Free, Pet Free. The item “Antique Skookum Bully Good Squaw Papoose Doll Early Rare Left Glancing Looking” is in sale since Sunday, January 26, 2020. Very Good Antique Tavern Clock. Rare 2 Train/ Striking. Flame Mahogany. Early 19c
Posted by admin On May 23, 2020
Very Good Antique Tavern Clock. Rare 2 Train/ Striking. Quite a rare clock, similar in principle to an antique longcase clock but designed to attach to a wall. You see more of these in single train (non-striking) format but the two train ones are rarer. A beautiful piece and very impressive you can get an idea of the size compared to some of my other clocks in the pictures. 14 round dial, the dome-topped case measuring 40 high by 18 maximum width. Actually more practical than a longcase clock in that it can be mounted according to ceiling height. Excellent quality case with flame mahogany figuring to the front. No name on the dial but falseplate stamped Finnemore, Birmingham which dates it to the first half of the 1800s. The movement is similar to typical 8-day longcase movements of the period but with different gearing because of the shorter weight-fall. The smaller line barrels can be seen in the pictures. Original steel hands in typical early 19. The clock has been serviced and is fully working. Complete with weights, pendulum, winder and trunk door key (working lock). The item “Very Good Antique Tavern Clock. Rare 2 Train/ Striking. Flame Mahogany. Early 19c” is in sale since Friday, May 22, 2020. This item is in the category “Antiques\Antique Clocks\Wall Clocks\Pre-1900″. The seller is “georgella123″ and is located in Yeovil. This item can’t be shipped, the buyer must pick up the item.
