Early Rare vintage FROG & TOAD school chart lithograph educational 1900s ANTIQUE
For sale here is a wonderful rare vintage pull down school chart of. This chart is by Franz Engleder and was printed and distributed by JF Schrieber around the late 1800s to early 1900s. Width:(including poles):88cm. (canvas 79cm x 98cm). This lovely lithograph was made by German botanist Franz Engleder who was commissioned to produce 60 school charts spanning zoology and botany. It features lovely illustrations of the common frog and toad. Printed on paper it is backed with canvas and has black painted wooden poles top and bottom. This chart has spent most of its life rolled up in a school cupboard so the colours are still bright this is in part due to the painstaking lithographic technique of printing. This chart is not new, so please be sure to check all photos. There is wear in keeping with its age. This chart is in good condition though obviously there are some signs of wear most notably on the edges. I have strengthen ares of weakness with crossweave filament tape on the back to prevent any further wear. However some wear is to be expected, after all it is over 120 years old. We have many other charts and maps for sale so be sure to check out our shop. Thank you for looking. VERY RARE WELLER AME RI CAN ARTS & CRAFTS SIGNED EARLY 20TH CENTURY ANTIQUE CERAMIC FROG BOWL, W/GREEN, BONE WHITE & METALLIC BURNT SIENNA MOTTLED GLAZE DEPICTING A FROG PERCHED ON THE EDGE OF A POND NEXT TO A BLOOMING WATER LILLY. Weller antique Ame ri can Arts & Crafts figurative art pottery and ceramic vessels. 11 ¼ Length x 7. ¾” Depth x 4″ Height including the frog x 2 ½ Height (Bowl). Extremely rare and in simply outstanding, estate fresh condition. Not only are these early 20th century antique Weller Ame ri can Arts & Crafts hand decorated ceramic’frog bowls’ hard to find, but to encounter one in this kind of extremely well-preserved condition, is well, almost simply too much to ask. A plaything and personal artifact of the gods. Gorgeous and an exquisite, nearly unparalleled antique Weller piece of Ame ri can Arts & Crafts ceramic art. Incredible glaze, figuration and surfaces make this a memorable, extraordinary work of antique Ame ri can ceramic art. One magnificent, killer bowl. Clearly signed on the base plate with a black ink Weller Pottery maker’s mark stamp. The small episode of bone white ceramic glaze loss on the base plate to the right and top of the Weller Pottery black ink stamp, is the only noticeable, fairly significant instance of appreciable damage to the dish. No attempt has been made to rectify or to correct this condition issue or to professionally restore this affected area. We decided to leave it exactly as we found it where it was discovered in the South Shore Massachusetts estate where it had been, largely undisturbed and perhaps forgotten, for years and years, apparently with only one previous owner. God created bowls and then God created bowls for Himself. Very Good to Excellent overall antique condition. Please scroll down the page and view enlarged photos below. A rare and early Hoganas green frog bowl. Swedish Art Nouveau. 1890-1910
A rare and early Hoganas bowl. Designed very much in the Art Nouveau style. The base is signed’Hoganas IJ’. The bowl has a very stylised and quirky design with two frogs staring at each other from either end. The bowl is decorated with a pale green glaze with darker areas. 18.6 cm long x 7.8 cm tall x 5.6 cm wide. The bowl is in good vintage condition. There is some crazing to the glaze commensurate with age. During manufacture the base has been cut and where it has been cut there is an opening and a few small nibbles to the thicker glaze at the base. I have taken a number of close up pictures to show these areas. It does display well. It is a rare and early beautifully designed bowl with real character. I have taken a number of pictures to try and give as accurate a description as possible. Any questions please just ask. Check out my other listings for more vintage items.
