RARE LATE 1800s / EARLY 1900s NEW ZEALAND MAORI LARGE CARVED PATU / WAHAIKA CLUB. It really does have quite a bit of age about it, but what is most fascinating are the notches to the top at the rear, their significance is unknown. The carved wooden Wahaika is in original untouched condition, no attempt has been made to polish / restore / clean it. It measures 36cms long & is 10.5cms wide at the top. Up for your consideration is an Important Early Gorham Coin Silver Baby Christening Cup. Gorham Hallmarks on bottom with “COIN”, the letter “A” and “4” as shown in pictures 10 and 11. Masterful deep Repousse Scenic Castle Stone Entrance, 2 outbuildings with heavily detailed trees/leaves and mountain background. Has a heavy Gothic Arch handle with Hand Engraved Owner, Frances Helen. Pettingill, October 10th, 1857. ” Stands 4″ tall including handle, 3 1/2 to lip. Has a 3″ diameter mouth opening and a 2 5/8″ diameter base. Weighs 6.1 troy ounces. This would make a very impressive showpiece to your American Silver collection or as a very special gift. C e l es ti a l N o n e s u ch. A gorgeous pair of very fine porcelain lanterns, decorated in a wonderful Millefleur pattern with a soft Famille Rose palate. They are both marked with the remnants of a’CHINA’ mark on the top of the base, indicating this piece could have an age between 1920’s, possibly slightly earlier, all the way to the 1960’s. A great object for study or display, this will make a nice addition to any student or appreciators collection of Chinese art and artifacts. One of the globes has repair covering. This is a super period piece wrought iron with a copper or maybe brass drip pan which is 11.5 inches wide, the drip pan is a wonderful verdigris colour, the wrought iron though corroded is good and strong, it does not surprisingly lean a bit one way, the listing is for the pricket stand nothing else in the pictures, I would suggest this is circa 1700.
