Up for sale is a antique German Early Antique 9 1/2 Paper Mache Milliners Model Doll. Very Rare Tucked Comb Hairdo. This is a rare antique milliners doll. Head, arms and legs are wood. Body is cloth stuffed with sawdust. She is 9.5 tall. Her clothing is all original and in excellent shape. Head, arms and legs are hand painted. Paint on face is cracked and partially flaked off. Condition: Multiple hairline cracks and crazing to her face. Paint loss and crazing to head, hairdo, front and back. Overall normal wear from age. No issues with arms and legs. Early Antique Grodnertal Miniature Tuck Comb Peg Doll 3 Rare c. Superb charming little doll from our own personal collection. Rare Tuc Comb design in her hair and lovely all original painted face. A very early doll much sought after. Please note that at some time in its history some adhesive has been applied to the back of her dress to enable her to be seated. Fortunately it does not appear to have affected the doll much. Please see photos that show this including a photo showing the doll seated on a chair. Chair not included in the sale. Age related wear to clothes. The doll has obviously been seated in the same position for many years as it appears the wooden joints may now be frozen but as she is so small and delicate we have never tried to move the joints for fear of damaging them. For us she has always been displayed as she is seated. A very rare and much sought after early antique doll. Very Rare Two Tiny Early Antique Grodnertal Wooden Comb Tuck Peg Doll/Dolls 2cm. Look at these tiny wooden carved dolls just 2 cm tall. An ideal addition to a dolls house. All original with hand painted features and little combs on their heads. Undressed doll has a little yellow comb to her head. One is dressed in a very fragile little outfit, all original. Goodness knows how they dressed the doll! Peg joints to arms and legs. These are from my own private collection. Dressed doll has one arm missing and wear to her dress, undressed doll has one leg missing and some paint loss to the back of her head. Please see pictures for details. Very Rare early 1800’s Carpenter & Co. Curry Horse comb # 1286 patent #? Made by the English firm of (James) Carpenter & Co. Of Willenhall England sometime prior to 1844. This is a hefty well made curry comb which has the Maker’s name and No. 1286 on the small heart shaped plate as well as another makers name plate on the handle. This comb was a forerunner to many American made combs of the 19th century. At the time, combs such as this were not cheaply made by the Brits for the masses but rather for the wealthy class hence the attractive, fancy handle. See “Condition Description” above for more details on it’s overall actual condition. Even with the the light dirt and rust color on brush side its in remarkable original condition for its age.
