HOLLY HECLA ANTIQUE AMERICAN TEDDY BEAR. Offering an exceptional early American HECLA teddy bear who dates to c1906. This teddy is gorgeous and in near-mint condition retaining almost all of her mohair. She’s an extraordinary example of a Hecla bear; one of the most desirable antique early American teddy bears to collect. This teddy, named HOLLY, wears an antique Victorian bright red coat with lace collar and a rare antique American Flag pinback button dating to c1900 (see photo). She has one of the prettiest faces you’ll see on a Hecla bear with a cute quirky smile. Holly is fully-jointed and measures a large 15 tall. She is in all original condition with no odors and has very minor mohair wear. Her paw pads are original and one paw has a hole where the excelsior peaks through. It is contained and doesn’t fall out. She has her original painted-back glass eyes, and a rust-colored nose, mouth, and claw stitching. Holly’s coat is as old as her and has wear from age with small holes here and there. She displays nicely at Christmas wearing her lovely red coat! You rarely find good Hecla bears these days and they are far less common than Steiff.
