RARE EARLY BURR OAK ROBERT MOUSEMAN THOMPSON STOOL c1930. An early Robert Mouseman Thompson stool with rare curved burr oak seat, raised on four faceted octagonal turned legs. It has the carved signature mouse to the front left leg. The burr oak adds immense value to the stool, Mouseman pieces with burr are very highly collectable and sought after. The condition of the stool is excellent, it has no damage. It is a solid, well made stool, suitable for occasional or even daily use. As you would expect with Mouseman hand carved pieces of furniture it is excellent quality. It measures 40cm height, 45cm width, and 32cm depth. All in all, it’s a stunning stool that has everything going for it, burr oak, age, really great patina, and a well carved old mouse, a beautifully made piece of early Mouseman furniture dating from the 1930s. There are around 50-100 high definition super-sized pictures at the bottom of this page. A glorious little side table, heavily carved to the base and with a timber patina to die for on the top. The top has been lightly restored to include some work to the timber and then a French polish, when the light hits this table right it is a thing of beauty. There will be normal age related patina marks from honest age and genuine use. Height:- 68.5cm. This is a rare and highly collectable piece of Mouseman tableware, ideally suited as a pin coin or key bowl, possibly for nuts, I have never seen one made from a single burr before, it is absolutely stunning. We have lightly cleaned waxed and polished it, the finish is exquisite throughout, no piece of wood I have ever held in my hands looks and feels as good as this. Height:- 3.8cm. A very decorative and well made piece, the burr walnut veneer looks good enough to eat from every angle, if luscious timber patina is your thing then look no further as this table has it in spades. The table has a lift top, the underside of the lid shows you just how rich the colour could be if you had this piece fully restored to include a French polish, personally I like the slightly duller colour, its shows the honesty of age. As mentioned you have lovely fretwork carved lids inside, ideally suited for cards and general nick knacks relating to games. The table has very high end inlaid detailing, the skill and craftsmanship required is absolutely mind blowing. The legs are carved to the top in the traditional English manor. The condition is period so has some normal scratches and marks here and there, theres nothing serious to note other than some raised sections to the veneer here and there and general little cracks.
