Here is a beautiful and rare, early long-faced French Schmitt bebe in tiny cabinet size from early mid 1880’s. She is about 14 tall and is marked size 5 with shield on back of her head. She has perfect pressed bisque head with NO repairs, chips, cracks, hairlines, wig pulls or damage of any kind. She has dark blue paperweight eyes. Her painting is delicate and fair in color and she resembles an early EJ Jumeau but with more subtle painting. She has a dreamy expression and darling in this rare small size. Her body is fixed wrist wood and composition Schmitt body with flat butt. It is not marked but is definitely a Schmitt body. She has her original cork pate, blonde mohair wig, antique socks and shoes, and is wearing an antique will cream color mariner outfit that has a few moth holes. Of course there is a matching hat. This is a lovely doll for an advanced collector. No French doll collection should be without a bebe Schmitt! 15 Early Bebe Jumeau. Beautiful and perfect bisque head incised only 5 in the neck socket and red artist check mark near crown. Peaches and cream bisque. Brown paperweight eyes are in their original plaster set. The original spring is in the head. No cracks, chips or hairlines. There is a bisque flake around each earring hole. Antique rare beautiful early bébé Rabery Delphieu double row of teeth size 1 (19,68 inches) perfect condition. Bisque head in perfect condition, no hairline, no restoration. Superb quality of bisque, very pale. Very beautiful expression of face. Mouth open on double row of teeth. Magnificent clear hazel eyes fixed in enamel. Pierced ears with original blue buckles. The head is marked engraved on the back R. Very pretty original wig blond natural hair with antique silk blue ribbon with his shell cork pressed, all original. The head is mounted on its very beautiful original Rabery Delphieu body fully articulated in composition and wood, hands intacts. The elastic bands are original, therefore relaxed, so they will have to be changed or left as is. This Rabery Delphieu bébé is superbly dressed in a very beautiful antique dress in very good condition, in fine cotton flowers and lace, antique silk blue ribbons. From a private collection, this doll is all original. Stamped “J” on head (see picture). Spiral spring neck attachment and pressed bisque socket head. Blue stamped body: “Jumeau Medaille D’or Paris” (see picture). 8 Ball jointed composition & wood straight wrist body. N very good condition, some signs of wear, slight flaking on one of the thumbs (see pic). Stunning face, blush complexion, beautiful deep blue eyes, pierced ears, closed mouth, blond long curly wig. Blue silk Taffeta dress with grosgrain ribbon & bow on back waist. Pin at neck and 3 buttons down front of bodice. Fixed under-petticoat sewn to dress + 2 cotton petticoats and vest and long bloomers with lace around the bottom. Lace slightly coming away on one leg (see picture). Slight wear / fading on the dress. Hat: same fabric as dress with grosgrain ribbon and brooch at front, and bow on the back. Knitted white cotton socks. Shoes: Original stamped E.
