RARE CHINESE EARLY 20TH CENTURY ANTIQUE HAND DECORATED CELADON (MILKY JADE GREEN) CYLINDRICAL TABLE LAMP, W/HAND PAINTED DEER FIGURES/ FAUNA HIEROGLYPHS, IN SEPIA GLAZE, RETICULATED ROSEWOOD BASES & ORIGINAL’S’ SHAPED UPPER ELECTRICAL BULB ASSEMBLY 1 OF 2, CONSTITUTING. Early 20th century Chinese ceramic table lamps. 33″ full Height x 16″ ceramic Height x. 5 ½” Width x 6″ Square base. The brass finial is slightly loose (appearing to be the case when originally assembled). The pictured shade is not included with the table lamp. This is the first of a pair of two nearly identical table lamps that were found in the same estate and which were located on each side of the same sideboard. Amazing hand decorated deer hieroglyphs and beautiful celadon glaze, with reticulated rosewood bases and early brass’S’ form double bulb electrical upper assembly, make this a stunning and extremely decorative and visually pleasing early 20th century Chinese table lamp. They are being offered individually but constitute a natural, original pair and are not a’matched’ pair. Why would anything so beautiful need any? Top shelf, estate fresh and the real deal. What’s on your bedroom’s side tables or in your living room, book-ending your sofa? Imagine these two antique Chinese table lamps inviting you, family and friends to sit down and make themselves comfortable. They simply will not disappoint. Incredible artisanry and craft is on display here and nobody perhaps in the history of the ceramic arts, and there are many notable practitioners, have made ceramic art quite like the Chinese, with over thousands of years of artistic production experience, honing their craft and elevating their ceramic art. A gift from the gods to us mere mortals, still residing here on Earth. A veritable’hold-your-breath,’ traffic stopping artifact. Exquisite and very rare. Very Good to excellent overall antique condition. The reticulated rosewood carved Chinese wooden base is largely without any damage. The wood base doesn’t suffer any wood loss, breaks, stains, flea-bites, hairline cracks or any deformities. The upper cylindrical celadon glazed and hand decorated wheel thrown ceramic tubular body, is also largely free from any superficial or structural damage, with no flea-bites, hairline cracks or stains anywhere on them. The original,’S’ shaped, double bulb, upper electrical bulb assembly, ascending brass stem, harp and finial are all original to the table lamp and are in excellent condition. The table lamp is in working order, with its original electrical wiring, assembly and plug. It does not come with a shade, nor with the one pictured in the listing. The first of a natural pair and not a’matched’ pair. The item “RARE CHINESE EARLY 20TH C VINT HAND DEC CELADON TABLE LAMP WithDEER FIG’S, 1 OF 2″ is in sale since Tuesday, October 15, 2019. RARE EARLY 20TH CENTURY ANTIQUE SHIWAN CHINESE HAND DECORATED STONEWARE CERAMIC FOO DOG (GUARDIAN LION) W/ VARIEGATED, SEMI- TRANSPARENT POWDER BLUE GLAZE & COBALT FLECKS. [This single antique foo dog was found alone in an estate & wasn’t paired w/another similar figure]. Early 20th century Chinese antique hand decorated ceramic Foo Dogs & figurative statuary. 6 34″ Height x 7″ Width x 3 12 Depth. Absolutely gorgeous and in very well-preserved overall antique condition. With very little noticeable surface damage to its highly detailed ceramic form and has perhaps only a missing flake on one of the raised ball beads found on the body. The rest of the early 20th century Chinese antique foo dog or guardian lion’s stoneware ceramic form, is without noticeable, depreciating flea-bites to any of its edges or fractures. Remarkably, the foo dog’s intricately fashioned mouth, with two rows of sharply pointed teeth, are fully exposed in the open mouth of the foo dog, as if poised in a prone, protective position, ready to strike at any possible intruder with its menacing teeth. The viscous, glossy, highly reflective glaze on the foo dog’s body is interrupted with episodes of matte sepia brown, burnt sienna and the deep charcoal glaze of the guardian foo dog’s four paws. The foo dog has unnatural, nearly demonic, supernatural figuration, that resembles the body of a small, muscular dragon. Incredible surfaces and complex, beautiful color make this early 20th century Chinese antique hand decorated foo dog or guardian lion, a truly memorable one, with exceptional glaze and sculptural, incredibly tactile figuration. Of course, in a perfect world (the one we don’t live in) there would not be one but two foo dogs, in the same nearly unscathed condition as this single, individual foo dog stoneware ceramic piece. But this single piece was found alone in the fine Boston, Massachusetts estate from where it was first discovered in a library and removed from the well-appointed home. What is outstanding and superlative about this particular Chinese stoneware foo dog, is the high level of detailed figuration present, which not to be outdone, is also decorated with a truly extraordinary semi-transparent or’runny’ viscous glaze, that seems to have been applied rapidly and which is allowed to run and pool somewhat around areas of the form, leaving certain areas with a highly reflective coating and other areas with nearly no glaze at all, remaining matte and with the same dry, super flat surfaces of the ceramic stoneware clay after is was kiln-fired in what was almost certainly, an early stone ceramic pottery oven. There’s no point-of-view, angle or nearly an area of the foo dog which doesn’t command your attention. The points of interest are therefore evenly dispersed over the entirety of its form and are democratically exercised, disallowing a less eventful and visually lazy episode to even occur. Extraordinary, highly detailed sculptural ability is on full display, with equally capable hand decoration with the most beautiful, thrilling resulting surfaces. Definitely, by any measure, not your average Chinese antique foo dog. Good to Very Good overall vintage condition. The item “RARE EARLY 20TH C ANTIQUE SHIWAN CHINESE STONEWARE CERAMIC BLUE GLAZED FOO DOG” is in sale since Thursday, May 7, 2020. Rare Early 20th Century Fold Up Sink/BasinOcean LinerNaval CampaignRailway. Mahogany campaign style folding basin washstand with stainless steel detachable sink, with two soap/shaving trays. Underneath has a galvanised waste water storage container and galvanised fill up can. The container and the can do have a date of 1940 on. But i do believe these are probably later additions as the mahogany cabinet with brass fittings is around c1900. Quite a unique rare piece and as the photos show in very good used condition. Either way still a great and potentially useful washstand. The basin has some surface wear, light scratching, marking, polish residue, tarnishing, odd ding, dink.. All commensurate with age and use. The cabinet has some dulling and marking as shown. Nothing major, but noted and does not detract in any way. Preferred at YO16 7PT. Please message with postcode for a quote. Measures overall 49 125cms tall. 21.5″ 54.5cms across with a depth of 8.5″ 22cms and with the sink/basin down opens up to a depth of 23.5 60cms. Any questions please message.
