Up for your consideration is a very rare and early vase by Alfred Stellmacher, made a few years before founding “Amphora”. It is in the Jugendstil style, made in Turn-Teplitz, and features a matte glazed single handled jug bears incised decoration in the form of trees, above gold square panels which depict fish and birds. Stamped “Stellmacher Teplitz” and impressed “05-14″ on the underside Height: 10. This piece was likely crafted between 1890 – 1895, and is in the Jugendstil (German/Austrian Art Nouveau) style. Stellmacher (with others) founded Riessner, Stellmacher and Kessel Amphora Porcelain Works (RStK), better known as Amphora, in 1892. Logically, the mark on this piece should predate the formation of this company by a few years, although precise use of the years associated with this mark are unknown. The piece is in excellent condition, free of chips, cracks, damage, or loss. There are some areas of imperfection in the glazes and designs i.
