These beautiful bowls are exquisite examples of the roaring 20’s pieces made from the same factory at the same date. Homer Laughlin is the parent company of FIESTAWARE and these bowls are indicative of why Fiestaware has become so popular today: QUALITY WORKMANSHIP. Condition: The bowls have utensil marks and age-related ware on the gold trim but remarkably they are free of chips, cracks or crazing (I did note that there is discoloration within one bowl that appears to be from a manufacturing issue). The Gold Aurene Iridescence is Stunning and is worthy of any of the finest Steuben or Tiffany examples. Same can be said of the Exquisite Pulled Feather design expertly executed here by Quezal in this Museum worthy example of their finest work. This wonderful cabinet vase measures about Four and a half inches tall and Six inches across. The following history of Quezal I copied from The Met Online website. Two former employees of Louis Comfort Tiffany’s glassworks, Martin Bach and Thomas Johnson, founded the Quezal firm and named it after the brightly feathered Central American quetzal bird. Using the same method of manufacture practiced at the Tiffany factory, the company made artistic ware with pulled and applied decoration of lustrous iridescence. ANTIQUE RARE MILITARY BELT BUCKLE WITH LION GILT BRASS BUCKLE – EARLY MILITARY. Very interesting and scarce antique belt buckle – the belt seems to be standard British army belt that was first used in the 19th century, bullion thread onto red leather with compartments to the inside. The buckle itself is frustratingly difficult to pin down to a country or regiment, the metal has been gilt and not machined like the ww2 era buckles which leads me to suspect it’s earlier. Adorned with acorns by belt loops – reminds me of the German buckles but of course no lions although the ottoman lion with German acorns may represent the ww1 alliance? Perhaps an ottoman regiment?
