This rare example of Antique Metallic Embroidery from the Early Qing Dynasty in the 1700s is a fragment from a silk robe. It is a long length of faded silk damask that is embellished with floral motifs and butterflies in a fine metallic soutache work. Every motif is different. The pink of the fabric is faded as you can see from the reverse side but this does not detract from the beauty of this piece in fact for me it enhances its ancient charm. Measures approx 68ins x 16.5ins. Condition: Good for its age. Some frayed areas to the binding edge but otherwise the silk ground although faded is generally quite good and not splitting.
