Tall beautiful AND fancy, deep SUN COLORED AMETHYST (SCA) antique CUP or GLASS. This is NOT a reproduction but an ORIGINAL ANTIQUE B lown I nto M old glass, dating back to the 1800’s. Che ck out the design, pattern, that it was molded in = Early American Pattern Glass. And also the astrological / sunburst pattern on the base. Condition : It is in SPARKLING CLEAN condition. It may have some wear from use and/or age but it looks to be in just about perfection condition. NO cracks, chips, dings, damage, etc. Age : An ORIGINAL ANTIQUE blown-glass vessel, ca. This little vessel has all of the similarities and patterns of a normal size cup except this one comes in an extremely miniature size, being just over one inch tall. It possibly was part of an antique doll tea set but the detail and work that went into it seems like it was designed for a much more sophisticated use, like for sipping fine liqueur out of. This purple color is the result of having manganese in the glass. Manganese is a mineral, a rock, that was mined, crushed, and pulverized into a powder, then added to vats of molten liquid glass, and acted as a decolorizing agent to turn the natural aqua-tinted glass into a pure crystal clear colorless glass. Then it was blown into a mold to create a vessel. But when exposed to the ultraviolet rays of the sun or other sources of UV rays, it triggers a chemical reaction and the manganese starts to oxidize and slowly turns a lavender or amethyst color. The end result is what collectors refer to as SCA (Sun Colored Amethyst) glass. The longer it is in the sun the purpler it becomes. This little shot glass was exposed to some concentrated UV rays which had the same affect as the sun, but a lot faster. It has not been colored, stained, or altered. No matter how a glass item has turned purple (direct sunlight or UV rays in controlled environment) they all turn the same purple color as it is the same chemical reaction taking place. The only difference is the time it took to turn purple. What is important is that an item is old enough to turn purple as with few exceptions, only clear glass from before 1915 have manganese in them and will turn SCA. After this, with the start of WWI, manganese was no longer available as foreign imports decreased and domestic resources turned towards the war effort. Selenium sulphate then replaced manganese as a glass de-colorizer and when exposed to UV rays, it turns a yellow / straw color, and a dark burnt amber color. Generally speaking NO MORE purple glass after 1915! Not only does this deep purple/amethyst color make this a great looking little antique glass, but it also authenticates it as being truly antique. In summary, look at the design, thick, heavy-glass, and just beautiful in the deep lavender color, check it out! We put our 30+ years of experience in antiques to use in describing every item we list. This item is in the category “Collectibles\Kitchen & Home\Barware\Shot Glasses”. So please take a look at my other items to avoid missing out. The is only one other copy I have ever seen and that is in the British museum. Including Charles Manners Sutton as Speaker, in the centre and the Earl of Yarmouth sitting in the right foreground reading a sheet of paper; after Pugin, Stephanoff and Bowyer; with a border of engraved lines. There is quite alot of information at the bottom of the picture on the border. On the right hand side it states. The Architecture ” ” part drawn by A. (which is Augustus Pugin, 1 March 1812 – 14 September 1852). The Composition & Figures by J. Which is James Stephanoff ca. The Portraits by Robert Bowyer. Which is Robert Bowyer (18 June 1758 – 4 June 1834). In the top centre in states. 22 Golden Square, partner and successor of Robert Bowyer late of Pall Mall, London, also by M. Rittner & Goupil, Boulevard Montmatre, Paris, Depose. In the bottom centre it states. On the left hand side it states. Engraved by James Scott. (which is James Scott circa 1809-circa 1889). Stretcher size: 62.5cm High x 47.5cm Wide. Print Size: 52cm High x 36cm Wide. Condition Report: This is a very rare intriguing item. Antique Rare Military Belt Buckle With Lion Gilt Brass Buckle Early Military
ANTIQUE RARE MILITARY BELT BUCKLE WITH LION GILT BRASS BUCKLE – EARLY MILITARY. Very interesting and scarce antique belt buckle – the belt seems to be standard British army belt that was first used in the 19th century, bullion thread onto red leather with compartments to the inside. The buckle itself is frustratingly difficult to pin down to a country or regiment, the metal has been gilt and not machined like the ww2 era buckles which leads me to suspect it’s earlier. Adorned with acorns by belt loops – reminds me of the German buckles but of course no lions although the ottoman lion with German acorns may represent the ww1 alliance? Perhaps an ottoman regiment? It’s a bit of an enigma, although the quality and age speaks for itself! This item is in the category “Collectables\Badges & Patches\Collectable Badges\Military Badges”. A Rare Very Early Antique Noritake Twin Handled Lidded Floral Pastel Vase c1902
A Rare Very Early Antique Noritake Twin Handled Lidded Floral Pastel Vase c1902. A beautiful and very rare, early Noritake twin-handled, lidded floral vase bearing the single blue Noritake Komura mark to the base, dating the vase to >1902. The vase is of a beautiful four-footed pedestal form with twin open-top handles and lid with pointed finial. The vase is intricately hand-decorated with pink, purple and yellow blossoms with foliage and beautiful gilt beading and scrollwork on a white and turquoise ground. A really wonderful, early collector’s item. The vase is in quite remarkable condition with no chips or cracks to the body even the handles are good! But there is a little rubbing to the gilt around the topmost rim. The lid has been broken but professionally restored with the damage almost invisible to the outward facing area. A really good piece of restoration. Please see photographs for more information. The vase is 33cm high (including lid), 14cm diameter, 1063g weight. Please contact me if you have any questions or would like further details or pictures. Please see my other items which include a number of pieces of Noritake porcelain. Antique Vintage Red Wing Union Stoneware 3 Gallon Rare Milk Jug. Very rare milk jug with handles and lid. Rare probably because they were used on a lot of farms and often were destroyed where as the crocks sat in closets. No cracks, but see photos for condition.
